The legacy of a master

Vicente Rodes (1948–2022) pursued his studies at the San Carlos Academy of Fine Arts, embarking on a career that would establish him as a prominent figure in Spanish abstraction. The Ibero-American Cooperation Institute in Miami, the Lladró Museum in Manhattan, the IVAM in Valencia, and the University of Alicante exhibited his works. Beyond his artistic endeavors, he was a Drawing Professor, fostering cultural awareness along the Costa Blanca.

Throughout his trajectory, he experimented with various techniques, including oil, acrylic, and watercolor. So, he attuned to the strengthening dynamics of contemporary art, where he left an indelible mark on significant public and private collections. His painting traces the interaction between an accurate geometry and an expressive gesture. In his compositions, the spontaneous flow of the stain yields the principles of order and cohesion, resulting in creations that resonate with a harmonious and enduring beauty. Through the layering of planes and his masterful use of chromatic gradations, the artist constructs an intimate narrative that invites a serene and contemplative engagement.

In his creative process, Rodes seamlessly integrates rigid with organic elements, imbuing his outcomes with a unique vitality and originality. This interplay, always thoughtful, eschews superficiality to become a testament to authenticity and experimentation. Each brushstroke contributes to projecting new visual horizons and transcends temporal boundaries, offering an elevated poetic reverie capable of uniting reason with emotion into a singular aesthetic experience.
